ABOUT ME
“The craftsmanship, knowledge and honesty evident in the artists’ use of materials has resulted in a body of work that feels skilful and deeply considered.”
— Bedwyr Williams, Angela Davies and Anya Paintsil
I make handcrafted Welsh furniture and sculptural work using traditional materials sourced locally in Gwynedd. Original pieces are available to purchase and I currently accept commissions.
I recently graduated with a first class honors in fine art and am now in the process of setting up a workshop and studio in Mynydd Llandygai above Bethesda.
My work is inspired by the historic rural landscape of Wales and the everyday objects and traditions that have shaped it. I create functional furniture and sculptural pieces that strike a balance between usefulness and visual interest, employing a process-led and intuitive approach to making.
I often favour three-legged forms found in historic Welsh furniture. When making stools and chairs, this approach offers natural stability and simplicity — three legs sit firmly on uneven ground without the need for complex levelling.
I work closely with the natural character of the timber, allowing grain, growth, and irregularities of the wood to guide the final form. Each piece is made individually, with attention to material, balance, and longevity.
